Zanzibar Petroleum (Upstream) Regulatory Authority (ZPRA) has been established under section 7(1) of the Zanzibar Oil and Gas Act No. 6 of 2016. The Authority was officially launched on March 2017 following the appointment of the Managing Director of the Authority. The main functions of the Authority are to Monitor and Regulate Exploration, Development and Production of petroleum in Zanzibar.
